Quick and Easy Knit Hat Pattern in 6 Sizes
Happy New Year friends!
It’s officially hat season and I wanted to create a very simple quick and easy knit hat pattern that is both beginner friendly and classic. It uses only basic knit stitches and would be perfect for those who want to try their first knit project or for those looking for a quick afternoon make!
For this project I used some lovely yarn from Knitcrate! If you haven’t heard about Knitcrate I recommend you check it out (who doesn’t want gorgeous yarn delivered every month?). I used Vidalana Ambient Worsted in Rose Blush; I really love the color transition of the yarn plus it’s really soft!
The hat can be made literally in any worsted weight yarn you have at hand, which makes the hat a great stash buster project! I recommend you use either 100% wool or a soft wool blend to maintain the extra coziness!

Please note that sizes listed refer to true sizing. Also please note that the hat tends to stretch so if you want a more tight/snug fit consider working one size down. You can also work more rows before starting to decrease if you want a longer/slouchy version.
Newborn: 13’’
6 -12 month baby: 18’’
Toddler up to 3 years: 19’’
Child up to 10 years: 20’’

Newborn:
With circular needle cast on 38 sts. Join in the round, being careful not to twist sts, and pm to indicate beg of rnd.
Rnd 1-5: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 6: *K around; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rep Rnd 6 until hat measures 6’’
Next Round: *K2tog K1; rep from * to end of rnd (25)

Cut yarn and thread tail through sts using darning needle. Pull tight and tie knot. Fasten off.
Sew fur pom pom on top or alternatively make a 3” diameter pompom and sew to top of hat.
6 -12 month baby:
With circular needle cast on 56 sts. Join in the round, being careful not to twist sts, and pm to indicate beg of rnd.
